“Upgrading my home” is a major initiative of the Hellenic Government, aiming at the energy upgrade of old homes. With the anticipated programme launch in January 2025, it offers subsidies and incentives for property owners, so that the latter enjoy an improvement of the energy efficiency of their residences.

Financing includes zero interest rate loans, a benefit that facilitates coverage of the cost of required energy improvement works, such as solar panel installation, heating & cooling systems upgrade, and insulation improvement.

In essence, beneficiaries can receive funding for works intended to improve the property’s energy rating, significantly reducing energy costs.

Conditions for participating in the programme

The programme is open to all main or secondary residence owners that wish to offer them an energy upgrade, as there are no prerequisites relating to owner income or age.

• Peak loan amount: 25,000 Euro.
• Repayment period: 3 - 7 years.
• Interest rate subsidy: 100% coverage at zero interest rate.

Works to be subsidized

The programme covers a series of interventions aimed at residential energy upgrade. In particular:

• Thermal insulation of walls, floors and terraces.
• Replacement of fenestration
• Solar water heaters
• Heating & cooling systems
• Photovoltaic systems or Small wind power generators
• Green roofs

A significant programme benefit is that it does not require that residence is upgraded by two energy rating levels, allowing spot improvements.
